Painkiller follows Edward, a disrespectful husband who goes out drinking, gambling, and cheating on his wife, Daisy. However, on this specific day, Edward returns home to find Daisy dead, overdosed on painkillers. He then finds himself in a twisted purgatory where he's being tormented by Orpha, a dead, rotten-faced female, who allows Daisy to finally leave Edward once and for all.

As part of his second-year performance, Jay worked in an assemble to tell James Fritz's Start Swimming - directed by Alix Harris, founder of the theatre company Beyond Face.

 

Alix's approach to this highly political piece of theatre was to tell it with intense physical movement, relying on trust, chemistry, and support throughout the company.

For a student film, Jay played Tom, a lonely man who thinks Mickey Trelethern, his idol from the television show Treletherns and Tom, is his best friend; they spend their life together, from sleeping in the same bed to even going to work together. However, one day at work, the actual actor who plays Tom's best friend comes in, and like a brick wall, Tom, unfortunately, comes to terms with reality.

Jay worked with TV students to create a new interactive Instagram movie called Shape the Future - the show's viewers had the chance to vote and change what course the storyline took.
